The transfer of power of the Presidency of the United States was meant to be cordial and peaceful. Some Presidents chose to write a letter to the incoming President but not all letters were formally written on White House stationery.
President Ronald Reagan's friend and Vice President George H. W. Bush won the seat behind the desk in the Oval Office so it was an easy letter to write and holds a hint of his trademark humor. His letter from 1989 is undated.

You'll have moments when you want to use this particular stationery. Well, go to it.
George, I treasure the memories we share and wish you all the very best. You'll be in my prayers. God bless you and Barbara. I'll miss our Thursday lunches.
